A collection of CDs available to all teachers at Montgomery Blair for use in their classrooms
WHY:
- to enhance curriculum
- to engage students by using music as the hook
- to try something different with your class!
Check out music use ideas on the website – these lesson plans have been collected from outside resources and from Blair teachers who use the collection regularly in the school year. New ideas are always welcome and can be added!!!!
WHERE: Room 5, Piano Lab (down Broadway, left on Renaissance Hall)

- teachers may e-mail Sara Josey <joseysar@mbhs.edu>
requesting specific titles or may come down to Room 5 to browse. Please do not send students for CDs!

- Classical Music: from Gregorian Chant to 20th century avant garde – symphonies, jazz, guitar, piano, organ, flute, oboe music, opera, tone poems, music influenced by historical events (Lincoln Portrait, 1812 Overture,etc.), Mozart (the Mozart effect!!!), Beethoven and more!!
- Music of and about America: spirituals, patriotic music, trains (!)
- 20th Century Music with a Conscience: CCR, Bob Dylan, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, Peter, Paul and Mary, Kingston Trio, Simon and Garfunkle and more!!
- Big Band Sounds: Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Duke
Ellington, etc.
- Multi-Cultural Music: (many with authentic ethnic instruments) national anthems, music of Africa, the Andes, Australia, Caribbean, China, Germany, Greece, India, Japan, Mexico, Native American, Paraguay, Russia, Switzerland
