Westfield Wheaton Mall wanted to create a partnership across schools and with local businesses, so a contest was established between five MCPS High Schools (Blair, Blake, Churchill, Wootton, and Northwood) to create Fashion Illustrations based on a clothing store in the mall. Students at each school had a little over a week to conceptualize and create their designs. Students visited the store in the mall and the store's online website to decide on a "fashion look," then spent several class periods creating their Fashion Illustrations. The students worked hard to meet the deadline and their designs look amazing. The submitted designs were put on display in late February at the mall on the lower level outside of Macy's, where the public can vote on their favorite design. A single winner will be chosen from each school, then from those five finalists an overall winner will be chosen and will receive a gift card from the mall.
The five schools also set up a Fashion Display on the upper level near the Costco to showcase their students' work separately from the contest.
Below are pictures of the contest display outside of Macy's, close-ups of Blair's top ten designs in the display, and the Fashion Display in the upper-level storefront.
